Women's Equality Day Fundraiser
August 26, 2020 (Wednesday, 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM)
This year we will continue to celebrate and uplift women and persist in our efforts towards achieving equality. Our momentum is evident: we’re electing more women to office and breaking down barriers. In our past gatherings, we have invited women to share their stories with us; this year will be a little different, as so much is because of the times we find ourselves in. We want to make sure we are safe and have a stress-free evening outside, while still celebrating our progress and friendships.
Please join us! We've teamed up with Broad Leaf Local Beer and look forward to enjoying a great meal and a little fresh air and sunshine. Broad Leaf is coordinating the precautions and will have your meals boxed up so you can take it to go or bring a lawn chair and social distance with your people - small groups only. To keep guests spaced out, we have two times to pick up dinner: 5pm and 7pm. We care about you and the staff, and this means masks are a must unless eating or drinking.
Let’s keep the momentum going from Emily's latest event - 48 Days. 150 Miles. One United Community. We uplifted seven hand picked non-profits and one was painstakingly chosen to be the beneficiary of this event. The love will continue for our Latinx community by a donation of 30% of all funds raised to La Lucha Fund. This Fund supports our neighbors facing everyday challenges during these unknown and tenuous times by helping with bills, groceries and everyday needs.
La Lucha Fund is designed to provide financial resources directly to families in Kent County who are undocumented or have mixed status and are not eligible for unemployment, CARES Act relief, or other government support. It’s a well-organized grassroots effort, and one doing the humanitarian work in our community.
And, let’s not forget that Emily is up for re-election next year in Kentwood as a city commissioner, so it's all hands on deck to rally and support her continued work in the fight for equity, the environment and education. Thanks for your continued support of a local leader!
